Drip (for 1 cup): 14g powder, 250g hot water
This coffee is grown in the Nyeri region of Kenya at an altitude of 1,600-1,900m. It has a juicy, lively acidity reminiscent of blood orange and blackcurrant. As it cools, the refreshing flavor of grapefruit and the soft sweetness of caramel spread throughout the mouth.
We recommend pairing it with sweets that bring out the sweet and sour flavor, such as citrus jelly or berry tarts. It also goes well with light cheesecake and butter cookies. Its refreshing and bright flavor makes it perfect for a morning drink.
[Production background]
This batch is processed at the Gichataini Coffee Factory, located at the foot of Mount Kenya. It is run by the Gikanda Growers Association, which represents approximately 4,000 smallholder farmers. Approximately 1,000 of these farmers bring their cherries to Gichataini, and the factory alone produces approximately 230 tons of green beans per year.
The harvested, ripe cherries are transported to a wet mill on the same day, where they are refined through a meticulous process of fermentation, washing, and sun drying. The water used is sourced from the Lagati River, and is properly treated after use to protect the environment. This rich flavor is supported by careful coffee production that coexists with nature.
[Regional characteristics]
Nyeri is one of Kenya's most highly acclaimed coffee-producing regions, where the temperature difference between day and night and the fertile volcanic soil produce coffee with a complex, bright acidity. This Gichatai Nylot in particular has a fruity, bright flavor and a clear aftertaste, making it a cup that truly embodies Kenyan character.
