Coffee Profile
Story
This lot is a carefully selected blend of coffees produced by several smallholder farms in San Agustín, in the southern part of Colombia’s Huila region. The coffees were sourced and blended by Banexport.
Banexport works to improve the quality and export of Colombian specialty coffee while providing technical support to local producers.
The company shares guidance on the ideal harvesting time and fermentation period for the Castillo variety, as well as drying methods using raised African beds protected by greenhouse-style covers.
Banexport also purchases coffee at prices that reflect its quality, connecting Colombian producers with specialty coffee buyers around the world.
About San Agustín
Located in southern Huila, San Agustín has long been recognised as one of Colombia’s distinguished coffee-producing areas.
Its high elevations of 1,500 to 1,700 metres, together with its rich natural environment, allow coffee cherries to mature slowly through significant differences in daytime and nighttime temperatures.
These conditions help develop the bright acidity, expressive fruit character and natural sweetness associated with coffees from Huila.
Carefully produced by smallholder farmers, this lot combines the region’s clean and vibrant character with a balanced and approachable cup profile.
Flavor Profile
Bright and juicy acidity reminiscent of blood orange is layered with the sweet-tart fruit character of cherry.
As the coffee cools, gentle caramel sweetness and a smooth chocolate-like richness begin to emerge. Clean and vibrant yet beautifully balanced, it is an easy-drinking coffee suited to everyday enjoyment.
Brewing Recommendation
We recommend brewing this coffee with a paper filter to highlight its bright blood orange and cherry-like fruit notes.
For a lighter and cleaner cup, aim for a slightly shorter brew time. To bring forward more of its caramel and chocolate-like sweetness, use a slower extraction for a rounder and fuller expression.
