A bright and juicy coffee with notes reminiscent of blood orange, layered with the sweet-tart fruit character of cherry. As it cools, smooth caramel and chocolate-like sweetness and richness begin to emerge.

About

This lot is a blend of coffees produced by several smallholder farms in San Agustín, Huila, in southern Colombia, carefully selected and assembled by Banexport.

San Agustín has long been known as a distinguished high-quality coffee-producing area. Its elevations of 1,500 to 1,700 metres and rich natural environment allow coffee cherries to mature slowly through significant differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures.

These conditions help develop the bright acidity, expressive fruit character and natural sweetness associated with Huila. Clean and vibrant yet approachable, this is a beautifully balanced coffee suited to everyday enjoyment.

Banexport works to improve the quality and export of Colombian specialty coffee while also providing technical support to producers in the region.

The company shares guidance on the ideal harvest timing and fermentation periods for the Castillo variety, as well as drying techniques using raised African beds protected by greenhouse-style covers. Through this support, Banexport and the producers work together to achieve more consistent, high-quality coffee.

Banexport also purchases coffee at prices that reflect its quality, serving as a bridge between smallholder producers and specialty coffee buyers around the world.

Process

This lot is processed using the washed method. Fully ripe cherries are harvested, depulped, fermented and then washed with water.

Producers receive guidance on the ideal harvest timing, fermentation periods and drying methods for the Castillo variety. The coffee is dried on raised African beds protected by greenhouse-style covers, helping shield it from rain and sudden changes in weather.

Careful fermentation and controlled drying bring out the coffee’s bright blood orange and cherry-like fruit notes, together with smooth sweetness reminiscent of caramel and chocolate.
