About Antonio Medina

Finca La Colina, managed by Antonio Medina, takes its name from the Spanish word for “the hill.” The name was chosen by Antonio’s father in reference to the farm’s elevated location.

The original farm owned by his father was later divided into several smaller plots and passed down to his children. Antonio inherited one of these plots, marking the beginning of his own journey as a coffee producer.

The Beginning of La Colina

When Antonio first inherited the land, he cultivated staple crops such as corn and beans. However, he had long dreamed of establishing a coffee farm of his own.

As a young man, he worked at several coffee farms, gaining valuable knowledge and practical experience. Drawing on these skills, he planted his first coffee trees in 1991 and gradually expanded both the cultivated area and the farm’s production over time.

Varieties & Future

Today, Finca La Colina primarily cultivates Caturra and Bourbon. Antonio is also considering introducing additional varieties to further expand the farm’s potential.

The farm is planning to introduce African-style raised drying beds to improve control during the drying process. Through these developments, Antonio aims to continue refining and improving the quality of his coffees.
